Contact Admin. Have taken a risk on booking this holiday due to Thomas Cook having taken it over. Can anyone comment on changes and improvements. Not going until next October so hoping for major improvements.
I wasn't aware it had changed hands so it's probably a bit too soon for anybody to comment. You need to give it a good few months to establish itself under the new ownership. Any RAK ex pats will tell you it's got a seedy reputation and the place is a bit of a dump but I'm guessing you've read the reviews as you state you've taken a risk. The surrounding area is a bit underwhelming too. On a plus RAK and this area is increasingly catering for The All Inc holiday maker so I'd guess Thomas Cook will renovate it and make it more family friendly and it will have vastly improved when you go.
It's not really in the heart of RAK so you're only mins from Dubai for a change of scenery. One assumes Thomas Cook will improve it and unless you intend to cancel I guess you'll find out if it has improved when you go.
Nothing anyone can here can do or say other than has already been said and hopefully it will have improved by the time you go in September - not possible for anyone to have a crystal ball and predict exactly what it will be like in September. Best of emailing Thomas Cook and asking what improvements they have made.
I will be going there on Wednesday for a week so will be posting an honest review when back home. Fingers crossed that it is ok because having been to the Hilton Al Hamra twice, this "new" hotel has a lot to live up to. Although it was frequented by mainly Eastern European tourists it was noted to be a bit of a seedy place where prostitutes used to frequent the bar.
